Whenever I get the above (which seems a fairly common pattern) I’m unsure how best to respond as black.
Firstly, recapturing with either the d pawn or b pawn seems like a bad position to be in, as it leaves the pawn structure a mess. So I feel on the back foot straight away.
Secondly, the engine prefers capturing with the d pawn vs the b pawn - I’d love to understand this as it seems unintuitive to me: capturing with the b pawn feels better as that leaves the d pawn to advance and protect the e pawn for a stronger centre.
