Elo going down and down, do I give up

The simplest way to break out of your ELO range is to pay attention to free pieces. Your goal should be to take free pieces your opponent gives you, and avoid giving away free pieces. After scanning the position, see if you can take anything completely for free, or take a higher value piece with a lower value piece, and if you aren't making a capture, you should ask yourself whether any of your pieces is vulnerable to being taken for free after every candidate move.

You may lose on time a lot, you may lose material to tactics, and you may lose to checkmate, but it's no good trying to fix these issues without the strong fundamentals of not giving away free pieces.

Best advice is don’t play when you have had a glass or two of wine,

Really appreciating all the comments here guys. I've been focusing more on puzzles and playing bots slowly. I've noticed my accuracy has been going up which is good. I'm trying to understand the London system as my main go to opening

Never give up, I do not think you can get a negative elo, therefore your elo cannot get down forever

Only time to quit chess is if you are getting destroyed at rating 100 imo.  Which was literally me at one point lol.   Otherwise the beauty of this website is millions of playing at all levels and match maker to help ensure competitive matches which is what its all about.

But you still did not give up!

Yes, surrender, to the dark side.

If losing ELO points makes you want to stop playing chess, that might mean that you don't really enjoy it, you just play to boost your self-esteem. You will enjoy games a lot more when you remind yourself that it's all for fun 👍 and if that's too difficult, maybe chess isn't for you.

When I have a losing streak (currently on one right now), I practice against the computer.  It helps identify my own mistakes.

Have tried playing in Guest mode for awhile?  That’s the only way I play unless playing a friend - no rating numbers to worry about when I lose.

Just started playing online today and I've already lost a ton. Might be joining you soon in giving up lol. Going to keep going though imagine you can get better and hopefully me too.

Please don’t give up! 🙏

I can only beat computers as good as Isabel and less, but I am not giving up and you shouldn’t either!

Hi! My name is Lauren Goodkind and I’m a respected  chess coach and chess YouTuber who helps beginners out :

Send me one of your games and I'll be happy to analyze the game for free on my YouTube channel. This is a great way to improve!

Here’s more  ideas to help you get better.

-I recommend two books for you: “50 Poison Pieces”   and “Queen For A Day: The Girl’s Guide To Chess Mastery.”  Both books are available on Amazon.com.  Both books are endorsed by chess masters!

-If you are serious about chess, I highly recommend you hiring a chess coach to help you.

-Also consider all checks and captures on your side and also your opponent’s side. Always as, “If I move here, where is my opponent going to move?”. Do this for every single move!

-Play with a slow time control, such as G/30 so you have plenty of time to think before every move.

-Feel free to ask my question on my live chess livestream Youtube channel, every Sunday from 1-2pm PST.

Guys, you need to focus more. Sorry, but hanging a piece in one move in DAILY is just lazy. You can probably get to 1000 just by not hanging pieces in 1 move and to 1200 by not hanging them in 2.

Taking a look at this game:

Looks like you should get some basic openings down.  At least the first few moves.

But you did grind out the victory again!

Maybe you are on the road to GM.
