What is so bad about bots? I find that playing bots helps me see jarring errors.
I don't know what made you think I advised against bots. On the contrary, in both posts I made in this thread I highly recommended them as a good way to get started in the game. Especially in Friendly and Assisted modes, the OP can get a treasure trove of advice and hand-holding while enjoying some successes.
