Finally Some Progress!!

I’ve been playing chess all my life, but never dig into the finer parts of the game until about a year ago when I downloaded this app and pay, I think, the mid grade membership fee(worth it). I’ve been stuck in a 700 rating for the last year, but I stuck to it. I’ve taken lots of advice on here(almost always castling, doing puzzles and tactics etc...and something over the past few days had happened! I’m starting to recognize elementary patterns(mostly in opening strategies). I’m starting to see beyond the moves directly in front of me. Be able to see , “well if I sacrificed my knight here, then they’ll move here(probably) and I can pin his rook with my bishop”. Things of this nature...I know I’m still a nobody in the chess ranks but after a year of trying, I’m finally seeing some improvement from the lessons and videos, from the tactics and recognizing patterns, and from a lot of advice I read on these forums, and I finally see an 800 rating for the first time. Its really very cool to see a complex idea to win 2 points of material 4-5 moves in advance and then it actually working for a change! It’s really kind of cool how all of a sudden some things just randomly starting clicking a couple days ago. It’s a small accomplishment, but for a novice like myself it’s very exciting and I guess I just want to say thank you to chess.com and all the great players on here who take the time to help simpletons like myself! Plus you mostly ever see problems on the forums and not a lot of progress reports. So....thank you!!! Now only 1000 more rating points to go!! 😂😂

Thanks to you both!! I think what will benefit me most at this point is going to pursue a chess coach to really catapult my learning curve!

My goals are always to increase 100 rating points at a time and be able to maintain that level , atm I'm stuck in the 1200s, been in that range around 6 months, but I start at 600 rating 2.5 years ago so I feel ya
