@Kmlio hey so what type of training would I need to do to get to say 2000 or 2500?

Just like a professional athlete, it’s a combination of inborn talent and mindless dedication. You need both. By dedication, most people trying to become a GM spend much of every day studying openings, analyzing positions, memorizing lines, and practicing. Even with all that work, most never become a GM because they just don’t have the requisite talent.

Even though I am not even close to being gm, I agree with NikkiLikeChikki in that it is a combination of work and talent.

King_Master12
@NikkiLikeChikki like what is the inborn talent mean?
Like what type of inborn talent would someone need to have to get that far?

Usually, people achieve FM or NM, then IM, then GM.

You have to take up competitive chess. That's the goal you should be aiming for, becoming somebody in the competitive chess world.

The titles follow naturally as a result.

In this digital era; OGM needs to be created where Online grandmasters get established, possibly earn money, then you get more interesting matches to. There's quite a lot of good un-fide ranked players because of situation, money, or just not caring enough.

Covid and the mass resurgence of Chess has opened paths to progression, FIDE or Chess.com need to establish a digital ranking system to truly evolve.

There are about 1500GMs in the whole world. There are probably more Professors at the Universities just in Australia, and they get paid good salaries, about 3X average income or more.

So if you want to do something worthwhile, start with a PhD. That's probably easier than NM title.

Saeadborji well it’s a combination of wanting to get my name out there or making a name for my self out there in something and the potential future rewards well not my main goal but it wouldn’t hurt .

Boogie buddy, if you've reached puberty and aren't already expert level you can forget about ever getting any chess title.

King_Master12
Astronomers actually that’s not true at all because I’m pretty sure there are some GMs that started to play really get into chess when they where 18 or 19.
King_Master12
Actually i will prove you wrong a

Hi

I'll say top 1% of intelligence. Excellent training progression with all the important concepts gone over properly. Playing chess before 14, playing serious chess at a very high level before 18.

@boogieman2000 - Obviously the abilities to calculate, visualize the board, memorize lines, and maintain focus are not skills that are distributed evenly at birth. If there were, there would be no such thing as chess prodigies.
