getting worse

Mostly play rapid 10 or 15 |10, recently feeling out blitz (still too fast for me), but can’t seem to improve. I thought the more you played the better you got, atleast gradually. I trying to follow fundamentals and when I analyze after ‘book’ moves it seems like it’s always a mistake or blunder.

I should clarify, I’m at the low end of beginner sub 600.

Check out john bartholomews "chess fundamentals" series on youtube. If you can think about the besics befour every move youll probably improve by 800 elo in a few months.

Hi,

Playing and analyzing is great, but are you categorizing your mistakes to find trends or repeated mistakes to focus your studies on and weed those weak areas out of your play? I find balancing study/practice/analysis/repeat helps improve your game the best. If you’d like some help looking over your play and getting some study program for yourself I’m happy to do so, message me. We want everyone improving their chess!

A rating of 600 is a sign of frequent blunders.
Always check your intended move is no blunder before you play it.
Hang no pieces, hang no pawns and you are 1500.
Stick to 15|10, no 10|0, no blitz.
Use all the available time: start at 40 seconds per move, finish at 10 seconds per move.

Deranged

I had a look at a couple of your games and I have to say, you're a very aggressive player (which is good!). It's great that you're looking for sacrifices and trying to be creative in your attacks. But sometimes, you're really overdoing it. Here's an example (moves 15 to 18):

And here's another example:

My advice to you is to tone it down a little. Try to be a bit more materialistic and don't sacrifice material too recklessly.

Play slow and solid; wait for your opponent to make a mistake
