Hi! My name is Lauren Goodkind and I’m a respected  chess coach and chess YouTuber who helps beginners out :

Here’s some ideas to help you get better.

-I recommend two books for you: “50 Poison Pieces”   and “Queen For A Day: The Girl’s Guide To Chess Mastery.”  Both books are available on Amazon.com.  Both books are endorsed by chess masters!

-If you are serious about chess, I highly recommend you hiring a chess coach to help you.

-Also consider all checks and captures on your side and also your opponent’s side. Always as, “If I move here, where is my opponent going to move?”. Do this for every single move!

-Play with a slow time control, such as G/30 so you have plenty of time to think before every move.

-You are welcome to come to my free online beginner chess class on May 14:

-Feel free to ask my question on my live chess livestream Youtube channel, every Sunday from 1-2pm PST.

Hi I’ve been trying to get better at chess and I just can’t win any games how do I get better?

Boogalicious

It takes time to get better, so set aside time to study, and have real goals and expectations.

For what it's worth, I recommend focusing on tactics in two different ways:

-1) Focus on solving x amount of new puzzles per day (i.e. chess.com puzzles). In the puzzle practice Identifying all of yours and your opponent's checks, captures, and threats. Don't try to solve it fast, try to "see", or calculate the solution first. Identify the unprotected pieces too. Try to understand why the solution is the best move. If you get it wrong and think another solution was better, try to calculate your other idea to see if you can refute it. If you can't, use an engine to see why it doesn't work.

-2) There are lots of tactics books on chessable which let you use spaced repetition to solve the positions until you will know that motif inside out. Then If you ever get such a tactic in a game, it will pop out at you. This is a great way of building up a bank of positions you know naturally.

It takes time to learn a vocab for a new language, just like in chess it takes time to build up your intuition about positions.

Good luck!

Thanks for the help I shall try this to see if I do any better at chess
