How are the chess.com bots ranked?

I am a beginner and I’m currently playing rapid at the 500-600 level. Today I tried to play against a few bots ranked 1100 and 1200.

I won both games and the bots almost felt like easier opponents compared to real players ranked around 500.

So how does this rating-system work? How can this be explained?

I’m not sure. Some says that the bots play like their level, but they make and obvious blunder which makes them lose. However, I believe that they are 700 higher than a normal human.

Here's the best way I can explain it, based on experience. Humans make solid moves when there is little pressure, and blunder heavily in tough situations. Bots blunder randomly, with the lower ranked bots more likely to make blunders. This makes their mistakes often more costly and spread out over the whole game, rather than a few critical points. Hence they're easier than humans.
