Pawns form the "terrain" of the chessboard, and they determine whether the battle will take place in the open fields or in the narrow alleyways of a town.

Probably the best way to learn openings are books . so if you want to know deep theory i would recommend buying a book about that opening but if cannot find tactics you just have to play puzzles a lot . 
and for the end games you can firstable learn the eazy pawn endgames and then simply add stuff to your repertuar .

Midgame suggests that all your plans have failed.  If you feel strong but have no more attacking moves, its fine to play a strong passive move, as your opponent will have exactly the same problem.  Especially on tight time games.  Just not too many defensive moves.  Allow your opponent to make the mistake
