As for how to prevent stuff like this happening? Study more checkmating patterns. You had Qxg5 checkmate the entire time.

Often times I have a sizeable advantage but the opponent refuses to resign, and then stuff like this happens.. how can I prevent it? I don't even understand why this game ended in a draw because I kept moving my queen to different squares.. wth?
