How draw rules work

Hello, I am a new player just casually learning with AI and I ran into this problem 2 times in a row where AI games would end in a Draw when I clearly won. I was in the process of attempting to set up a checkmate. In the attached image I played my queen between the 2 red squares and established this line of sight and was ready to end the game in the following turn but the game ended in a draw. Is this due to non of my pieces not putting the king in check therefore the next move making the king unable to move without making check? Why would this count as a draw rather than a win?

Edit: Struggling to include a visual on the scenario.

Player;

Rook: A1

Queen: Final move G2 -> C2

Bishop: D4

Pawn: A6 - B5 - E6 - E7 - G5

King: F7

AI;

King: B4

Pawn: A5

Sounds like you stalemated. If you're opponent has no legal moves and is not in check the game ends in a draw.

I can see your game on your profile in both cases the king can't move without being taken and the pawn is blocked from moving. So no legal moves for your opponent when it's your opponents turn which is a stalemate and a stalemate is always a draw. The ways to avoid it happening when you are completely winning is to always put the king in check and if you can't make sure the king has a safe square to move to on their turn
