How is ranking decided?

I'm wondering what influences you're rank after a game more than just W/L. Mainly I'm curious when someone resigns if it counts for less than a checkmate. Or maybe there's other factors like win streaks and moves played?

None of those things you listed matters. Checkmates count the same as time wins and resignation.

It's just the difference between your rating and that of your opponent and wins versus losses.

Another factor is how accurate your rating is judged to be- reflecting how much you have been playing.

That's a funny idea. If implemented, we wouldn't see many checkmates anymore happy.png.

The rating system is this one (the Glicko2 version): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glicko_rating_system

You're literally told how much rating you gain/lose for a win/draw/loss on the site when the game begins. So anything that happens during the game itself is irrelevant.
