This will depend on the strengths and weaknesses of both yourself and the particular opponent and obviously it's most important just to play the best moves you can, but in general it's better to play more aggressive and complex lines against higher rated opponents. Personally if I'm playing someone rated a few 100 points below me, I want to have a nice quiet position and slowly capitalize on their mistakes. I don't want a sharp and unclear position where 3 results are possible.

Hello,
after a long time without playing OTB(cause of Covid), I will play in 6-8 weeks a tournament against much stronger opponents.
I have a Fide Rating of 1600-1700. Maybe it is a bit higher because I have managed to beat some 17xx and 18xx opponents in online chess (45+45 and 30+30 time control). But in my tournament, there will be many opponents around 19xx/20xx elo.
I wanted to ask if I should rather play solid or aggressive. I will do 2 hours per day chess tactic training. I know that I won't get a fast progress in 6-8 weeks. My last hope is that I have a little advantage because I play two online games per week in a long time tournament for three months.
