My highest is 2294, I'm trying hard to get to 2300. Any tips? Tricks? Traps? Witchcraft? Magic? Lazy solution? Free loans?

Your rating is high because you rating started a 2000.

No. chess happens in real life. The online chess is only... Well, online chess, where there is no official ratings, where nothing is done under your name, where one doesn't press on a clock after each move and don't write down the moves they play, and then, where you don't have to care about the touched piece rule, then can't call an arbiter to solve a problem or ask a question during the game. etc.

In real life, I began at about 1500 and no one was rated U1000.

Hey everyone,
Saw a lot of good questions here — getting to 1000 ELO is definitely doable with the right focus!

A few quick tips that can really help:

Play slower games (like 30|0 or 15|10) so you actually have time to think.
Focus on basic tactics (pins, forks, skewers) — solving 5-10 puzzles a day consistently is more powerful than cramming.
Understand basic opening principles: control the center, develop pieces, and castle early.
After each game, review your blunders instead of just jumping into the next one. Fixing a few big mistakes makes a huge difference fast.

If anyone’s serious about speeding up their progress, I also offer 1-on-1 beginner coaching and structured study plans tailored for each player. Feel free to message me if you’re interested — happy to help you hit that milestone! 🎯

Good luck everyone, you've got this!

What worked for me: I looked at "Insights" under the "Learn" category. Of course, there were a lot of areas of weakness. So I picked just one that I thought would make a difference to work on. In my case, Insights showed that I was getting into trouble during the opening, which I sort of knew. So I decided to focus on the 3 main opening principles and not much else. And the opening that I was playing with White clearly was not working, so I tried the London System. This got me to the mid-900s, where I was stuck for about a year. Went through the same process again and now I am stuck in the 1100s. Time for another analysis ...

Of course, you can commit to a massive study plan, but I don't know that recreational players need to do that until they reach intermediate level.
