How to utilize the analyze tool

Brand new at chess and trying to analyze my games, however I'm not really sure what I should be looking at when analyzing the games. There's so much info there and it's a bit overwhelming.

When looking at the best move, 90% of the time I don't understand why the engine thinks that's the right move. Is there either a simplified analysis tool or a guide to use the chess.com analyze tool for a scrub like myself?

There is no simplified analysis tool. It is looking multiple moves deep. You are probably still trying to learn to recognize big one move threats- like hanging your queen or back rank mates.

I looked at your most recent rated game. You had good winning chances close to the end of the game. You had a lost position at the end but you really shouldn't resign so quickly. There is every chance your opponent would have made a blunder later on.

If you are going to use the Game Review, I think you should only use it to spot the colossal blunders that change the outcome of the game.

You can see there were some big swings in your last game.

Thanks for the response! You're right, I still fall victim to hanging almost everything. I'm trying to be more conscious of this. I'm trying to go through my old games and see where I could have changed my move to develop a better advantage.

Thanks for checking out my game as well. I know I messed up a bit at the end there, I was at a wedding and it really wasn't the best time to make my moves, seeing as I timed out. Thank you for the tips though, I really appreciate the responses!

That makes a ton of sense. I'll go through and see where it says the tempo swung either way and see what caused it

If you don't understand the engine's top move, look at the line it has for that move.
