I can't take the king's attacker

Hi !

I discovered today chess.com, and while playing, I've been checked with this configuration (I am black):

I wanted to take the e7 knight with my queen of c6 knight, but I was not allows to do so.

Is there a rule that prevent me to do so ? Usually, you can do any move, as long as you are not "check" at the end of the turn.

Thank you for your time and wisdom !

If you take the knight, it is still check... by the bishop on c4, and as you've said you can't take the knight and let the king remain in check. So actually this is double check.
