Congrats!
I just reached 1200
First, congratulations about reaching 1200 😎
I don't think you need to read a book for now. If you can improve your thinking process, it will be enough to reach higher ratings. What you have to do is not focusing on what you want to do or what you will gonna do, but focusing on what your opponent will do. For example, if you find a nice idea and go for it, but after your opponent plays a specific move and it turns out that you are in a losing position, then you will think later that you should not have played it. If you start thinking about how your opponent will react to your move (and find what is the best move for your opponent), this would be a great progress in calculation.
Puzzles, openings, books, yes, they can also help you, but first thing should be improving your thinking process. Hope this helps and good luck! 👍
Hey guys, I ve been playing for 7 months, started from 300, then I created this account in December 2023 and today I reached 1200. I ve been thinking about the next step, wether if I should read a specific book or do more puzzles, I would be up to take some lessons too. But I really dont know where to begin. I hope you are able to give me some tips. Thank you guys
Probably just focus on how you play chess
Ex: strategy ,endgames ,positional chsss so on at your level it will be less about not hanging pieces (honestly 1800-1900s hang pieces by movre ten consistently anyway sometimes learning how to apply pressure, attack ,convert ,so on might be helpful )
Learn and apply the most important principles of chess.
Always blunder-check your moves.
Solve tactics in the right way.
Analyze your games.
Study games of strong players.
Learn how to be more psychologically resilient.
Work on your time management skills.
Get a coach if you can.
