You can select unrated games but there is little point because they don't tell you anything about your playing. Plus, there are people who specialize in beating up on new players in unrated games.
If you play rated games and keep losing, your rating keeps dropping until you play someone who you can beat or at least draw.
Don't worry about being terrible. Everyone is terrible at the start. Hopefully, you learn a little in each game.
