Isolated Pawn - pawns are the soul of the chess

Pieces move, but pawns shape what happens next. Where they stand decides how strong your plan can be. Their setup controls where others go, influencing choices much later.

Today’s focus is the isolated pawn — a pawn with no support from neighboring pawns. It is often a weakness, especially in the endgame, because it cannot be protected by another pawn.

However, in the middlegame it can be a strength. The side with the isolated pawn usually gets more space, active pieces, and attacking chances.

The key rule:
Play actively with the isolated pawn. Aim for simplification against it.
