There is no set time table, but when it comes to getting better openings don’t make a difference as long at is a good opening. In fact changing openings regularly can actually hinder development as a chess player. Focusing on tactics, endgame, and strategy will take you further. If you haven’t learned an opening for black against e4 and one against d4 then learn one opening for each. Based on your rating that would be beneficial for you so you can have a tried and true response to those openings. Other than that I would stick with those openings you mentioned in question if your goal is to get better in least amount of time.
Couple years, nothing wrong with looking into other openings. Personally id keep playing what i know while i study the new one for a few months. But i do get bord of playing the same thing somtimes.
Hi,
I want to know how long a person needs to spend time playing a certain opening and when to start learning a new opening?
I have been playing the Italian Opening and the Scotch Game for over 2 years now. Should I start learning Openings more frequently?
Thanks y'all.
