For one, you don’t need to be smart to play chess, you just have to understand the moves and be careful for any possible attacks.

I suggest doing the Pirc opening, specially for a beginner, and when you start to get the hang of it, try the pyramid opening.

If you lose you’re queen in the middle of a game, don’t panic. If you still have rooks and a bunch of pawns you can make another queen with just a few simple moves.
