Newbies Stalemates, The AGONY!

I'm quite new to Chess, like. . . Newborn baby new. I started yesterday September 7th at around 3 in the morning by downloading this app. I ran through the basics and know piece movements. I got tired of the videos and wanted to learn hands on. . . But all my matches end in Stalemate. I only lost about 3 and won 3 (on other Chess websites and apps—also ignoring the times I let my family play in hopes of teaching them. . . They prefer checkers.). All of this from 3 in the morning to 6 in the morning before crashing and falling asleep.

I'm wondering why I'm finding myself in these Stalemate. I know it's because the King of the opposing side isn't in check and I practically answered my own question. . . But I think I need more help on figuring out what exactly is putting a King in check and how to achieve it.

I think if I did, plenty of my past games could've been won. I just seem to corner the King so aggressively without thinking and I always fall into a Stalemate.

A lot of newbies run into stalemate problems.  What you have to remember is that the king can NEVER move into check.  If you surround him with pieces, but don't put him in check there's a good chance he won't be able to move without moving into check.  Even more advanced players can run into this so here's a tip: try to leave your opponent with a pawn or two so he has a piece to move in case the king can't.  Let me see if I can find a help article or two for you....

And maybe review the rules of chess in case you missed something?  That pesky "en passant" rule trips up a lot of folks...
