On The Red Carpet (Loss streak)

Hallo,

So I am on a pretty big losing streak. If you check my recent games, I only won a few games these past few days (@Logowood06 is my friend). I've been playing like a 300 (no offense), and it's really hurting my rating. Any tips on how to break out?

On a semi-related note, I guess my goal to get 800 Elo by the end of April isn't gonna happen, lol.

give chess a break, come back in a few days and your mind will be like a clean slate

Yea breaks will help , take it slow and steady

A little break from playing is not a bad idea.

After the break. Not as many games per day. And if you want to improve, no bullet or blitz at all. Only rapid and only 2-3 games max per day.

Spend the rest of the available time on tactics puzzles, studying master games, analyzing played games, studying endgames and so on.

A dozen games per day will only lead you to repeating the same mistakes over and over and reinforcing the bad habits that led to you losing in the first place.

And bullet will do nothing, but reinforce the bad habit of moving too fast and blundering.

I lost 100 points in the span of like 3days! I took a little break as suggested. I'm trying everything I can to stay above 600 (I don't wanna go back to 500). Wml I guess

You are still playing a dozen games per day. Too much playing, too little analyzing and studying.

You will just keep repeating the same mistakes this way.

Believe me, only 2-3 games per day max. Spend the rest of the time on puzzles, lessons, studying and analyzing and you will improve.

You do not need luck, you need to put in the effort to improve.

I’m noobie, started playing like a month ago, so I’m slowly climbing to 1000(small goal). And while I see advices on nonstop solving puzzles and analyzing, I don’t believe that such scholar method is mandatory on such amateur level. Anyway chess for us is still a game, and game should bring fun. So if you are not so happy about main line of getting better at chess, I can advice spend more time on YouTube. As from my experience with Hearthstone and poker just watching good streamers/YouTube creators on daily basis passively increase your understanding of game really fast and almost effortless. You can add some video on openings and try to step by step implement then to game. For me it works great and I feel improvement in all aspects constantly. And month ago I didn’t even know how to castle. And as for loose streaks, I prefer to make breaks after 1st painful loss and after 2 any type of losses. Tilt is real and you should not let it ruin your elo and mood. Btw I just lost bc of missclick on the phone screen in absolutely winning position with like +10 and mate in few, just because I gave my queen for free. And after such devastating loss I almost lost next one just because my emotions screwed my perception of game(god bless I drawed)
P.S.: Sorry for poor English

I can totally relate. Just lost 50 points. As a beginner with roughly 800 rating this is Frustration.

Anyways, I try to find out what my biggest weaknesses are (like blundering pieces, only thinking my moves, playing when tired) and try to avoid them.
