Does anyone here rotate multiple openings just to confuse their opponent in case many games are played ? Is it a good or a bad idea as a beginner ?

Pretty much all garbage and the Grunfeld.  I officially quit the Grunfeld and Modern Benoni because I just do not get it at all with those two.  My brain is not wired that way.

However, I quit the following because they are hot garbage:

White - King's Gambit, 1.Nc3, 1.c3, 1.f4

Black - Alekhine, Scandinavian, Modern, English Defense, Benko Gambit, Leningrad Dutch.

I don't know your age, but when you get close to 40, you'll play d4. And changing your entire repertoire in the middle of life is only for the brave (e.g. me).

Here - a GM teaches 1.d4 for kids. the notion that beginners should first learn e4 is not G-d's word.

There Are more openings against 1.d4 but some are garbage (I won't say which, because players who play them will get angry), and some of them are easy to answer. I only find Benko to be hard.

I stopped playing the french because of the exchange variation.

What's wrong with facing the exchange variation?

Probably better to play an opening for a while till you understand it, and maybe switch to another thereafter.

Uhm, that is very much a wrong assumption.

KassySC will be 47 in March.  He plays 1.e4.

I will be 47 in May.  I play 1.e4.

40+ does not equate to 1.d4 as White!

I quit the Italian and Vienna. Those are much too tactical, and I like a good balance of both.

I've played more and more 'dubious' openings the higher rated I've gotten. This is because I actually enjoy playing tricky and trappy lines. I only play blitz, so it's all for fun.

Stafford Gambit, Englund Gambit, etc and more recently, Orthoschnapp Gambit, - these are openings I wouldn't even recommend to people below 1500/1600, as if the opening doesn't go your way, you're usually lost and have to be resourceful to keep up any kind of play.

I'd only rotate openings in an extended match if you're coming out worse playing the same opening against them.

Stick to what you prefer against a steady rotation of random new opponents from the pool.

I'll be 71 in May. I play 1. d4. 1.e4 is a very good opening for those who prefer to memorise lines, which isn't really possible in d4 openings, in that there are too many rather minor variations. You have to think for yourself more in d4 openings.

Not necessarily. I’ve been experimenting with 1.e4 too and you don’t really need to know too much theory.

Keep it simple- ruy Lopez, always exchange on c6. Play the endgame.

Caro- exchange c3. Simple reversed Carlsbad.

French- I like the nimzowitsch gambit but also the kia.

Sicilian- closed, Nge2. Resembles botvinnik structures.

this may be the single worst way of playing e4 I've ever seen (especially if kia)

Be quiet open game supremacist

I’ll have you know I spend four moves to put my knights on e2 and d2 in the ruy instead of two.
