PGN problem, can you help?

I'm having trouble loading a PGN file I created in Mac's textedit (pasted below).  Chess.com tells me it cannot parse the file; another site loads the file but after move 23 incorrectly says that black resigned (black was actually checkmated on move 32).

I'm sure the problem is my beginner's knowledge of notation but I can't square it using my knowledge of computer science.  I've tried using different moves for move 24 and stopping at only move 24; another chess site still chops it off and calls it a resignation.  Chess.com just doesn't like the file at all.  I've tried reverse engineering some exports from this site and am obviously missing the obvious.

TIA,

I would like to help.   However you,  my friend are light years ahead of me on this subject

I'm still hacking away, trying to reverse engineer an export from chess.com to see the differences but the fact that another site is able to read it, though truncating it at move 23 and calling it a resignation has me suspicious that something deeper is wrong here

There is one problem I see in the beginning of the game. There are knight moves which are ambiguous.

For example:

7. .. Nd7 (for black is it Nbd7 or Nfd7?)

8. Nd2 (for white is it Nbd2 or Nfd2?)

11. .. Nd7 (for black)

I went through the game as best I could. There were a number of mistakes in notation. Here's my best guess at what happened - Let me know if you think I got it right.

Thank you Escher.  I will diff what you have with my bad version and learn from my mistakes.  First tournament for me; played against players ranked 300 to 1000 points higher than me and this was my first time taking notation while under pressure so I'm sure the goofs are all mine.  I greatly appreciate your time, effort, and assistance!

EscherehcsE

I hope I got everything right. I had to guess on a few moves. I was concerned when I saw that White didn't capture the bishop on move 17, but maybe White's rating wasn't very high and he just didn't notice the hanging bishop?

Also, 23. Bxf3 didn't make any sense, since nothing was on the f3 square. 23. Bxd3 was the only move that made sense. I also assumed that 24. Qxf3 wasn't really a capture and that you meant 24. Qf3.

white's rating isn't very high indeed.  It's me. :-)  I'm still officially unranked, an 800 unofficial online playing a 1560 FIDE in a Swiss style tournament.  I was a bit nervous in my moves and my note taking :-) . It was my first tourney, first time taking notation, first time for everything.  I THOUGHT I had it written down right but obviously nerves got the better of both my play and my writing.  Thank you so much for the help.  I hope I can pay it forward as I become more experienced.

EscherehcsE

Wait a minute - Black was a 1560 FIDE? Black made half a dozen major blunders...I don't understand...All I can say is that your opponent had a really bad game. Well, congrats on the win!

My mistake Escher.  *I* was black.  I randomized the names before I posted the PGN.  Yes, I am at the stage of making many blunders.  I can't even get colors right!  ;-) .

Ah, OK, that makes a bit more sense. happy.png White still made a couple of goofs I wouldn't have expected, but maybe it was a fast time control with time pressure near the end? Well, anyway, you got your first OTB game under your belt - They get easier to play from here, at least from a stress standpoint.

He did point out a couple of mistakes/blunders(?) I should have taken advantage of, that he regretted.  We were the last match of the day on a very long day, so I would attribute it more to weariness.  But my not catching them--THAT'S where I must learn to improve.  You are correct, the stress was more than I could have imagined :-) . But I enjoyed it and I'm finding the upper level players to be great teachers, not at all condescending or feeling bad about playing a newbie.  They've been teaching me a lot at the end of the games.  Overall I'm really happy with my introduction to the chess community.  That includes chess.com and folks such as yourself, who are willing to take the time to help me with questions like getting a .PGN correct!!! :-)

Right at the end you have '*', which should be '1-0' because the game ended with checkmate. An asterisk is used to indicate that the game ended without a winner.

Another issue might be the moves themselves, you should probably do some double checking  (I'm too lazy right now to try that).

And the O-O should be done with the uppercase alphabet 'O'.

But the verdict is that there is an illegal move in your pgn. And based on your findings on the other site, the technical error must occur after move 22.

*I would also avoid any unnecessary white spaces. Try 1.e4 rather than 1. e4.

White's bishop captured on f3 and then later captured on f3 again with the queen without the bishop moving off f3??

I-Like-To-Play

Thank you WSama.  My mistake in hurried nervous notation.  I believe the f3 error is the one that Escher caught in his/her fixup.  Thank you so much for pointing out the * problem and the other recommendations.  I think I picked up the * from copying a template out of an empty chess.com file.  I (very wrongly) assumed as a computer programmer it indicated "end of file" ;-) . A little more research would have solved that for me!  Thank you again.

You're welcome, markaaronky. I was just adding on to what EscherehcsE said, but I was too lazy to compare the moves. Congratulations on your first tournament.

Thank you WSama.  I am inputting my other games now and can see how my haste and nerves led to a few problems :-( . I  am following along OTB this time.  This will get better as my tournament exposure increases.  Once again, your help is greatly appreciated.
