What is a good way to explain the rule that a pinned piece can still check your opponent’s King?

If you checkmate your opponent when they are also threatening a checkmate, you still win the game because, hypothetically speaking, you would capture your opponent's king first, which is essentially the goal. Therefore, the same goes for a piece in an absolute pin hitting the enemy king.
