Every puzzle has its own rating. That rating is determined by how many people solve it correctly and I also think that it depends on what their current puzzle rating is as well.
In any case, there are always some newer puzzles and their exact rating is undetermined until enough people try to solve it. Because of this, if you get this puzzle wrong you get 1 point, if you get it right, you get some points for the correct answer.
In short, you get 1 point if you don't find the solution for an experimental puzzle so to speak.
