it seems to me i had EXactly the right amount of pieces to defend the situation without having to throw away a rook but then....i guess that's why I'm Nooby Nooby Do right? )
Q+A for beginners(and everyone else)

you could always REanswer them and get them more correct?)

so ah...... is it impossible to checkmate with only a king and a bishop? I've just had a try and it seems a bit impossible

no its not possible
but you can with 2 bishops but one has to be on the white square and the other on the black square
right cool. so in daily games is it the 30 move rule or the 50 move rule?
im not sure

correct, this is why it is good to have some ideas in your mind regarding the theoretical endgames wollyhood. A single Bishop can't checkmate; a single Knight can't checkmate; 2 Bishops can checkmate, yet 2 Knights can't checkmate (ironically, 2 Knights versus an opponent's pawn may deliver checkmate while 2 Knights alone can't! [Troitsky Line]).
This is another reason that some chess study can play off long-term. Without this prior knowledge, it is understandable to think that something like K + B vs K is a win (you are up an entire piece after all), yet in fact it is a dead draw.
Hiw come when I capture an opponent's Queen they immediately resign? Even when they have the majority of their pieces and their king is safe. I thought the object of the game is to protect the king 🤔
the aim is to protect the king yes but the queen is important too because its the most powerful piece and the king is the most valuable or most important
historically speaking real kings were powerful like alexander or napoleon and women were powerless but in chess the queen is more powerful than the king because i think if you think about it if the king was more powerful it would not be possible to checkmate and the game would not work right?
personally i like the idea that the queen is more powerful

yeh that's why we study isn't it.
you tend to jump to lots of conclusions dude, i will be taking this as a win in an endgame against a 1800 rated player if it's a draw, i think we only had 2 far moving pieces each on the board to begin with.

so can anyone answer if it is the 30 move rule or the 50 move rule in our daily games / daily end games tournament I would really appreciate it

50 move rule
yeh you are right, i remembered the analysis so wrong xD
still i find it odd and a strange idea of the N Q + N R attack I was experiencing, so i do disagree with the analysis still
