it seems like your opponent hasnt played a daily game before the one against you which would explain the rating difference. i went ahead and checked their game history, it doesnt show any daily games.

Thanks - it could be that I was playing daily only before getting broken in quick games and not understanding how the different games affect rating. It was the second time someone started with a significantly different rating that changed. I probably just don't understand how the cross-game ratings work. Still learning that. Thanks!

I'm just curious why someone would start the game with a 400 rating, have 800 rating by 3rd move (less than 10 mins), and game history shows 1200s? I'm a chess.com newb and noticed this before, but now I'm really curious...
The completed games may be a different type, but still doesn't explain the massive rating changes in 2-3 moves. I don't care to play 1200 vs 800, but doesn't that affect my rating if I win vs a 1200 or 800 instead of a 400?
