I am a new player and I fell from 400 elo to 300 elo in one day, mostly due to to opening traps. I fell for marshalls trap twice and for some obscure schoolars mate variaton. How do I get better at defending myself against these?

Hi!

You can avoid many opening traps by following opening principles. Most opening issues are a result of improperly managing your opening moves like not controlling the center, moving the same piece multiple times, making to many early pawn moves, not castling, and not addressing what your opponent is threatening to do or take. I’d be happy to address any opening trap concerns you have or review opening principles, message me and we can meet up on a communication platform you prefer soon and go over these things. A few key ideas can make a huge difference in your play!
