While playing on chess.com I made a move which surrounded my king with my own pieces blocking him off on all sides..is that allowed in chess?? I kind of feel like it shouldn’t be..

Why wouldn't it be?  In fact just that situation is how smothered mates by knights can occur.

sure. in case you can't make any move, it would became stale mate

Well, you might want to take a look at the starting position...

If you don't know it already, look up the Bongcloud opening. While not played at top level, it is reallly good for beginners. It's an opening where you give your King some much needed luft early on so that what you describe precisley cannot happen.
