Should I have a deadline for reaching a specific ELO
Forget about deadlines to reach a certain ELO. If you don't really enjoy chess, it's pointless to even play. Pick a great player from the past and play through as many of his or her games as possible. That way, as you see the strategy of each game unfold, you may develop a love for chess. After that, improvement up to a certain level will be automatic.

That's that related to this site or forum in the slightest. Go spread your meaningless views elsewhere. I don't care what you think.

I am pretty sure it has to do with what views OP is promoting (avatar and the description in profile). I have seen no one say anything negative about OP promoting their views and if you allow one view, you should also allow the opposing view.

You have to be Gary Chess
If you are playing chess as a brain exercise, then I would recommend playing against some of the bots on the website/app as they have different difficulties and skill levels. Your elo is not affected by the bots, but I find it a fun way to practice.

As kingandqueen2017 said, that's not related to the forum topic. No side is doing the 'right' thing. Some may disagree with me, but it's a matter of opinion. Let's keep this forum topic to chess.
It's not exactly good to keep a deadline for reaching a specific elo if you haven't understood the principles and ways to play at that level .Focus on improving your game and your elo will increase . Take your time because if you don't grasp the required playing tactic and just focus on increasing your elo , you might get stuck on later elo range
