It helps to post the actual game.
That Qe8 move is not what you should be thinking about. It is not easy to see. At your level, the key points of the game are when you are hanging a piece, or when your opponent hangs a piece. Like move 9, 10, and then especially that queen-hanging blunderfest at moves 20-25. Also, move 40, when you had mate in 1, but you did not take it. Fortunately, your opponent allowed it again next move.
I had this game I had been up for too long without sleeping.. and this guy really pushed me, I missed various things, it was a long game in terms of number of moves, that had worn me down a bit mentally, plus I didn't want to risk taking too long with some of my moves. I was very lucky to win.

I am looking through it at the moment and apart from certain blunders where it's obvious where I went wrong, some things from the engine, I don't quite understand..
For example, I did Qe8, and it's saying that's wrong I should have done Be7
I don't see anything poor in what I did. His bishop can't really do much once I moved my queen. If I moved my bishop instead, then it seems no better to me.
He could choose to trade bishops and get his bishop killed by my queen. but I don't see any advantage to me or him in that.
I could choose to trade bishops and get killed by his knight. I don't see any advantage to me or him in that trade. Maybe a slight advantage to him if I did that, because with his knight on g5 he'd be attacking some pawns near my king, though those pawns are well defended. and I could even attack his knight with a pawn on h6 or f6 and then my king has a place to escape too if need be
If I were to move my bishop to it suggestion so Be7 then i'd be blocking my queen from going straight, so it seems maybe worse. It means my queen is so blocked off that it is attacking only one square.
I can see that one advantage is it'd mean my bishop is defended, though it's not under attack so I don't see it as mattering that much.
I do notice that even as early as move 7, the move pair i'm looking at, my pieces aren't as well defended as his. I have an undefended knight on g4, and an undefended bishop on c5. But if I want to get some pieces up the board(which can work sometimes eg. position 5 it was a great place for my knight, until he castled), but if I do want to get some pieces up the board, like marching my knight up as I did, then my pawns will end up left behind a bit.
I'm also interested if I can use the engine to tell me why that move was not as good.
Thanks
