Hi I'm stuck around 1200. I'm looking for something explain me thinking process. There plenty of courses out there. Anyone got experience with Igor Smirnoff courses or anything else?

Many players use a form of CCT (Checks, Captures, and Threats) as a basis of breaking down positions and understanding what’s going on and needed. It helps avoid blunders, avoiding and finding checkmate possibilities, tactics, and candidate moves. Might be something to start with.

His courses are good , you may want to check out his YouTube channel remote chess academy, he covers what you are looking for in some of his free videos. There is also a series of you tube videos covering checks, capturing, and threats which is really good

Get a chess puzzle book. It will help you calculate more than some puzzle online because they are human approved. Check here for some free chess books if want before buying one of the newer ones.

What I did was play more games and I started to realize things in my play. I noticed that even though I protected a minor piece with a pawn, my pawn structure was getting ruined from taking back on captures. So I applied this to my game to avoid destroying my pawn structure. I also read a few books on my opening and created studies out of them so I can refer back to them whenever I feel that I'm struggling against them. Here is my Queen's Gambit study and my Indian Defenses study. If you are an e4 player, find an opening book for your opening and create a study. By making these studies, I am able to see the common ideas that are played in many variations and after many different moves. It's hard to get that from just watching a video. Feel free to ask me more questions
