The competition on Chess.com seems to be easier when you first make an account.

I have been playing for around 1 year (started my first account on Oct 10th, 2021. Since then, I have been steadily around 600 ELO +-100. I found that the competition was incredibly difficult and I was unable to move past 700. Finally, on October 17th, 2022 I decided to create a new account and see if starting at a higher rating would give me the boost I needed. Since then I have been playing around 1000 ELO consistently and find myself doing much better and after 56 games am sitting at 31-20-5 for my record. This is probably because I have been playing against a lot of new competition but it just goes to show that the rating system is flawed as the 650 ELO's with 2000+ games are much better than then 1000 ELO's with under 200 games. Either that or I am just playing much better. Hoping for the latter!
