I admittedly gave up shortly at about move 20. Yet the engine recommended Rxf7 on move 7 (critical moment) and move 8 (missed win). I also thought that 17. -- Rxd5 was a mistake after having played 18. -- Bxf2+ and seeing the White queen. Yet the engine had no problem with that move either!
I am really confused why the engine liked these rook moves in this game. Could someone explain to me why these moves are recommended? What's the plan or purpose behind them?

7..Rxf7 would get you two pieces for the rook.
18..Bxf2+ was a blunder. 3 attackers against 3 defenders is a losing proposition. Fortunately for you, your opponent can't count either.

I admittedly gave up shortly at about move 20. Yet the engine recommended Rxf7 on move 7 (critical moment) and move 8 (missed win). I also thought that 17. -- Rxd5 was a mistake after having played 18. -- Bxf2+ and seeing the White queen. Yet the engine had no problem with that move either!

Edit #2: In case anyone is wondering, Rxf7 on move 7 is scored -1.72, and Rxf7 on move 8 is scored -3.17. Move 18 was not a key moment that was included in the game report.
