What are you meant to do with puzzles?

I got this app like yesterday and thought it’s pretty cool butttttt, I have no idea what I’m meant to do in the puzzles
Solve them? Easier said than done of course if you are a complete beginner. Let me run around and see if I can find some resources to help. I suppose you're on one of the mobile apps? If you were on a computer, I'd steer you to the unrated puzzles where you can take your time and there's no pressure. I don't know if the apps have that.
