Learning the Queen's Gambit is a great way to get started. It imparts valuable knowledge about pawn structure, development, and center control. Rich, advantageous positions result from acceptance or rejection. It was also made even more popular and motivating for new players to study by the Netflix series!

I think the Queen’s Gambit is a great opening to learn, especially for beginners like me. It teaches a lot about controlling the center and developing pieces quickly. Even when the opponent accepts the gambit, you can usually get a solid position with good piece activity.
That said, I often find myself unsure of what to do after the first 10 moves or so — the plans can get a bit tricky without deeper understanding. Still, it feels like a solid foundation to build on, and I'm enjoying learning it so far!
Also, if someone wants to practice or just relax with some fun online games between study sessions, I recommend checking out this site - there are a lot of web games and casual games that are great for a short break without leaving the “thinking” zone completely.

Queen's Gambit is 1.d4 d5 2.c4

Bobby Fischer described it as "dull, and a draw".

Beginners are best advised to start a game with 1.e4

I also think the Queen's Gambit is a great choice for beginners. It really helps you understand central control and sets up a lot of interesting ideas for the middlegame.
