Fried liver/Italian and scandinavian
whats the best beginner openings
Caro kann is very complicated
I really like the French.
Beginner opening, not intermediate, i also like the sicilian, its just the opposite of good for a beginner
I’d say for white the London or Italian. Could lead to huge attacking potential with both. Some others I’d say could be the English, but it’s really not common in Beginners. For black I’d say it’s the Caro-Kann, which I play, and if they don’t play e4 then you can play the Kings Indian.
I'm a beginner (700), and I like the Queen's Gambit and the French Defense. I don't know what "the best" beginner opening is, though.
Again, a caro has huge theory, why is that your recommendation
You say that the Caro-Kann has huge theory, and you recommend the Italian instead? Really? That makes absolutely no sense, the Italian probably has more theory than any other opening. Maybe the Spanish has more.
Also, the amount of opening theory is completely irrelevant. A beginner won't know any of that, the opponent also won't know any of that.

i played the italian knowing 0 theory, so if you wanna play it against Hikaru, you might wanna get learning, Litteraly Fried liver attack at low level and its a W
Obviously the best opening is the Catalan (I'm joking it's incredibly complicated and I've never played it once in my life) but I recommend the Italian for White and for Black the caro or the Scandinavian
Yeah, totally agree — studying tons of opening theory early on just isn’t worth it. At lower ratings, most games go completely off book after like five moves anyway. It’s way better to focus on basic principles and actually understanding why moves are played instead of memorizing lines you’ll never even reach. I also recommend checking out this website, which has lots of interesting gaming offers.
Try out a few different openings to see what really appeals to you and what kind of chess you actually enjoy playing. Don’t be fooled by the marketing tactics of YouTubers promoting certain openings, or by people on forums they’re often influenced by those same YouTubers or just believe that their favorite opening is the best.
It took me a lot of experimenting with different responses to 1.d4 and jumping from one opening to another before I realized I kept coming back to the same one.
Eventually, I discovered my love for the Queen’s Gambit Declined. Still trying to find the right response to 1.e4, though.
As black, I play d6 as first or 2nd move against anything white plays. From my understanding, it's a Philidor setup (Hanham variation) if 1.e4, or becomes Old Indian if 1.d4 or 1.c4 . I have a reasonable success rate using it and until I get much more advanced, is a solid opening to continue with as black.
