1000+ is considered an intermediate. 1500+ advanced.
when you can consider yourself as a intermediate chess player????
oh so I am about to become intermediate chess player🥳 finally after a whole year of studying chess I achieve something.
Congrats! I'm slightly below 500 rapid again, but around 400 in blitz & bullet. I'm quite comfortable down there. As I never set myself goals (because of long covid and medication and I'm simply not competitive enough and not enough caring about good results) I can always play without pressure and expectations.
1500-1700 is called an average club player.
1800-1900 is called a strong club player
2000-2199 is called a very strong club player
everything above that is on master level. we differentiate between:
2200 -> Candidate Master or Nationalmaster in the US - I guess
2300 -> FIDE-Master
2400 -> International Master
2500-> Grand Master
To get the CM or FM-Title u just need one time in your life a rating like mentioned. And I think you have to play 30 classical games of chess. The same is valid for the IM and GM-Title but you have besides bring certain performances in special tournaments. These tournaments are relatively seldom. To get the IM or GM-Title you must travel around the world therefore. So its actually not only dependent of your playing strength but also of the money on your bank account.
What is also weird you must apply for the title at FIDE. You dont get the Title automatically. And whats even weirder you must pay FIDE money that you get the Title.
usally 800 doesnt mean intermediate, because people can say that they are a queen when they sign up. so probaly 1100 for if you joined as a 200, 400, 800 and 1400 for if you joined as a 1200
I have a question for the people who are saying 1000, 1200 etc. If that is the case, what would you consider a player of my rating?

No its not, 1500 is considered average, anything below is of course below average and equally anything above is consider above average. While not a beginner sub 1500 is not intermediate.

I've heard people say expert but I certainly don't feel like one. I still make silly mistakes and there's so much I don't know. I categorize myself as intermediate, maybe advanced intermediate at best. So if that's the case, 1000-1200 would be beginner. No?

Online: Expert player
Otb: Strong advanced player.
The default way has already been answered by several people, but I would say it's once you can consistently play at a level around 1000+. A person can be 500, and consistently play like a 1200. I think people make ratings seem more important than they are. Don't get me wrong, it's definitely an important factor, but personally I think that it isn't just ELO that should be what gets looked at. Something else that should be considered is what rating groups they usually play with. If a 500 is almost always playing against 1200s, then they will stay around that level or lower, until they get a win.
when?
