Why is Kd7 a mistake here?

After you get checked by the queen, you can go Kd7 or Kd8. I chose Kd7 and was told it's an error. Can someone tell me why so? I tried analyzing with an engine, don't see it.

I don't think you did analyze it with an engine because it blunders mate in 1 happy.png

I don't think you read what I wrote, because I said "after you get checked by the queen". happy.png You take the rook first, get checked by the other rook, move to e8, then get checked by the queen -> I am asking about that position (after Qg6).

Ah.  Sorry about misreading your original post.  That's a more interesting question.  My feeling is that you don't want to trap your bishop on c8 (and the rook on a8 by extension.
