why isn’t this a checkmate?

Black only has queen left on a8. White has a rook on a6 and e7 and a bishop on a7. How isn’t this checkmate? Got a stalemate

If you mean the following game, it's black to move, they are not in check, and they have no legal moves. That's a draw by stalemate.

I assume you mean "King" on a8. Also, I didn't bother to look where the white king is, not that it matters.

The black king cannot move, but is not attacked. That's how stalemate works.

True, if the kind Cant move and it’s not being attacked then stalemate shows up so no one wins or lose
