1111 is only 21 points away
YEAH!! I finally broke 1000!

Probably, you're missing something. 1000 in two years its very-very slow progress.
In two years i broke 1800. I the beginning i was around 900-1000...

That is why the achievement is even more incredible. Working for two whole years and finally achieving a 4-digit number. . . Great job @tj2112!!!!
@50kg, breaking 1800 in two years is pretty incredible! I have been playing for about one year and four months: my rating is 1650+ now. I hope that I can reach 2000 like you have one

Good job, buddy! If you continue to work on your chess you'll break this 2000, defenitely! 1650 in 16 months - nice result!

And, of course, i want to congrats @tk2112 for breaking 1000 barrier. But, only 1000 in two years means that he is basicly stuck...

You either have a chess talent WAY above average or you have chess improvement as a full time job. I worked my way up from 1100 to 1400 in two years and i have put quite some effort to be able to do it..
tj2112: Congrats, keep up the good work!

I agree that progress has been slow. It just seems like there are so many good players on this site. I may be missing the patience necessary to be as good as I can be...... I tend to rush and miss the big picture as I focus on the little battles going on around the board.

Just for my curiosity i looked at my early statistics. I found that from april 2014 till november 2014 i played around 700 10-minute blitz games and i improved my rating from around 1000 to almost 1500 (1482).
As you said, you're around 1000 now and you already have been played 3000+ games. And you're still around 1000. As i can see, you're playing tons of games but still improve very slowly. From my point of view, reason is that you're learning nothing or almost nothing from your games. If you want to improve, you have to learn from your mistakes. You must change your thinking system respectively in order to avoid same mistakes in future. And, of course, you must somehow increase you general chess understanding, learn new tactical patterns, strategical methods and ideas, etc. There are a lot of stuff in internet. You can use books, or even videolessons. For example Saint Louis Chess Club youtube channel is great.
Try to learn more from your mistakes and from stronger players and your results will be much better. Making same mistakes over and over again isn't a great idea...

That is true, you need to learn from your games: but only if you actually thought about it! If you just played whatever move you first saw in the game, ‘analysing’ it afterwards will not help you at all.
for me I had to stop playing bullet. When I first discovered chess (here on chess.com ) I learnt the rules, played a few 10 min games, then realised I could play like 20 times more 1|0 games than 10|0 games in the same time period. I played in as many 1|0 tournaments as I could, and my rating stayed the same. And then I read an article by @chuddog on how blitz and bullet ruined his chess, so I (tried to) stop playing it. And the decision worked! Even playing 3|0 is better than bullet. I quickly jumped roughly 300 points simply from thinking before moving.

Hey, thanks dude! I’ve been stagnating around 1600 blitz for a while, but I managed to reach 1700 in daily: slowly, slowly

True. Correct thinking system is very likely most important thing in chess.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! GREAT JOB!!!!! Now you can go for 1111, the next awesome rating!
And then go for 1234

Do you have any advice for me to do that as well (otb)
I went from 600-1500 CFC in a year, do you think its possible to get to 1800 or 2000 in another year?

Also huge congrats to @tj2112 !!
"... thinking correctly in most positions takes time. Playing almost exclusively fast games obviously precludes practicing correctly, and so you will never get very good! Sure, fast games are fine for practicing openings (not the most important part of the game for most players) and possibly developing decent board vision and tactical 'shots', but the kind of thinking it takes to plan, evaluate, play long endgames, and find deep combinations is just not possible in quick chess. … for serious improvement ... consistently play many slow games to practice good thinking habits. …" - NM Dan Heisman (2002)

"... Most internet players think that 30 5 is slow, but that is unlikely slow enough to play 'real' chess. You need a game slow enough so that for most of the game you have time to consider all your candidate moves as well as your opponent’s possible replies that at least include his checks, captures, and serious threats, to make sure you can meet all of them. For the average OTB player G/90 is about the fastest, which might be roughly 60 10 online, where there is some delay. But there is no absolute; some people think faster than others and others can play real chess faster because of experience. Many internet players are reluctant to play slower than 30 5 so you might have to settle for that as a 'slow' game." - Dan Heisman (2002)

Are Rapid 15/10 games considered fast games? That is all I play now days. That's where I reached 1000.

2 years for 1400 is decent.....most peoples that get 150 points per year are very happy and 100 is the average.

This site is really tough for sure;on another site you could be 1200 probably....

I'm only 1090...
