I am now 1400 of elo. I have been playing since February and I'm trying to improve. I try to do tactics every day(10 or 15 min) and I play a 30 min game every day. I've also seen some videos of openings and endgames, but I don't usually practise that often. Any advise for increasing my rating and my games?

Solving tactics is good. Try to solve some books on tactics like " The complete Chess workout" another book you can try is " Chess Tactics for Champions by Susan Polgar" .Once you complete these two let me know. For middlegames try to see one classic game daily. For that you can see videos of Simon Willians Attacking course:

https://www.chessable.com/the-art-of-attack-in-chess/course/24575/

You can also check "Logical Chess Move by Move " Irving Chernev's book.

When I took a look at your game I thought "How are you blundering this hard as a 1400?" and then realized you were playing as black XD. Great game by you.

Hi, I am not really a beginner, anyway i have some difficulties in endgame calculations.
Evaluating Kings and Pawns moves to check a promotion sequence, or any similar situation , is it better to count all the moves of a colour ( e.g. white ) and then of the other colour or alternate white -black -white - black...? Sometimes the sequence is quite long, and alternating the sides, I cannot remember my previous step.
Thank you

As a beginner you should focus on foundation of endgames. Try basic King and Pawn Endgames will help you in the beginning .

1. 100 Endgames you must know.

2. The Modern Endgame Manual: Mastering Queen and Pawn Endgames

Frankly I love the second book because first it covers theoretical positions and later it explain practical examples.

Try these books and you will learn how to use count method to calculate and also how to calculate simple variations in pawn endgames quickly and accurately.

I hope my answer helped you happy.png

Thank you for your fast reply.
Unless there are very simple calculations to be applied (e.g. square rule) on the chess board I imagine "White king goes here, Black goes here, white pawn goes here, black king goes here,

white pawn goes here ... and after a while I get lost because I cannot remember where I put the piece in the previous step ". Is this the right way to carry out a calculation? How to impruve in this kind of calculations? Easier is to think "White makes 1, 2, 3, 4,5 ... and then I consider the black" but I am afraid this is not the right way.

Dear, square rule is a nice shortcut to find if pawn promotes or king catches the pawn. Let's imagine you reached a position in which pawn is on a5 and opponent's king is on f1 then in your mind you can easily see that pawn can promote easily because f1 king is out of square. This way you stopped your calculation on a point where you saw that ok Pawn a5 King f1 then pawn promotes.

Moral : Don't think of king goes there pawn goes there. Counting of tempos will also help you to quickly see if a race is winning or draw or loss.

For more info. Check those books and use a real board and learn from practical examples. I am damm sure once you complete 100 Endgames You Must Know then your Endgame skills will be on the next level .

Oh right, right

Hi! I'm just a regular 1400 who wants to reach that legendary 2000 rating someday. While my understanding of fundamentals and tactical brain and eye are decent, I am pretty horrible with managing time, handling pressure from my opponent, remaining calm under losing positions, and converting winning ones. So yeah, I have lots of weaknesses that I want to work on and fix and I kindly ask for your help in overcoming these barriers.

Marcyful

I also have this ELO anxiety problem that prevents me from playing at least a few games everyday. So I would appreciate it if you have any advice for that too.
