Alekhine and the cat

Eliskases was a very strong player, Alekhine considered him as a top candidate for the WC.

Reading that bit about him it's a shame I haven't heard of him.  He doesn't seem  as obscure as some of the people goldendog seems to be able to name.

He's one of those players who seems to be forgotten too easily. A bit like Vidmar.

Offhand I can't name any tournaments Eliskases won, but I know the roll call of champions he had defeated over the decades.

He's like Lillienthal in that way to me.

My cat wouldn't be much help.  He still brings his Queen out too early.

I find cats a minor impediment to playing a real OTB game but a significant hazard when playing online. The wretched creatures like to lie on my laptop keyboard while I'm trying to use it. It's even worse in winter when the warmth of the laptop makes it even more attractive.
