Chess in Central Park!

I'm not from NY, but based on other posts in the forum, I think you'd be better off visiting the Marshall chess club although I don't know their hours. I fear that most of what you'll find is exactly the kind of blitz and trash talk you're trying to avoid. Come on native New Yorkers, there must be someone who knows a good place for a visitor to play?

Thanks baddogno, although I'm after the relaxed outdoorsie thing. I'm also not a very strong player and not 'that' serious about chess in general, so I think I would probably feel a bit out of place at a major chess club. It's an interesting idea though; it would be fun even if I just went there as a tourist - I'll definitely think about it! :)
I'm travelling to New York (from Sweden) tomorrow, it's my first trip to the USA and I'm "ever so excited". I've heard that there's chess being played in Central Park, which is right next to where I'm staying.
I'd wish to learn more about what's going on: Are there all sorts of players in the park; young and old, men and women, weak and strong players? How many are playing? Also: What's the general attitude between players? If it's all about betting money on trashtalk-speedchess games, I'm out.
I know I'm a bit late with this little inquiry of mine since I'm travelling tomorrow but any inside info would be swell!
Thanks!
