cool line for fork on f7
Whoa! Anybody else notice how this line above is so very reminiscent of the OMG trap in the Blackburne-Shilling Gambit?
If you compare the lines:
The above: 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 (Italian) Nf6 (Two Knights Defense) 4. Ng5 d5 5. exd5 (the diagram picks it up from here...) 5...Nd4 (the Fritz) (also common are Nxd5 - usually leading to the Fried Liver Attack or the Lolli Attack, Na5 - main line, Nb4 - the Kloss, b5 - the Ulvestad) 6. d6 Qxd6 7. Nxf7? Qc6 8. Nxh8? Qxg2!
with the OMG Trap: 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 (Italian) Nd4?! (this is the Blackburne-Shilling Gambit, risky but fun for black against a novice; now say: "OMG! I left my e-pawn hanging - hope they fall for the bait...) 4. Nxe5 Qg5 ("Whoops! My bad, look at that nice fork on f7!") 5. Nxf7 Qxg2!
The OMG Trap continues: 6. Rf1 Qxe4+ followed by the loss of the game or the white queen: 7. Qe2 Nxe2 or 7. Be2? Nf3#.
White would do well to remember one of the important opening principles: Castle early and safeguard the king! He can do so on move 7 in the above diagram instead of 7. Nxf7?
