I think it would be more interesting if the Pope would lose abilities as its pieces are lost. Example= If both knights have been captured then the Pope would no longer have the ability to move as a knight.
Jester: He is a mixture of all the chess pieces. Attacks diagonally, move one way forever until something stops it, but when a queen or a pawn is close to it, he can escape like a knight, once it is dead, it can bring back a character.

On top of its mobility prowess, the pope piece kisses each square it visits but may be represented in this duty by the player. It travels around the board to see all its parishes but none twice until each has had its turn. A recently added chore is that it comforts every little pawn that was abused by its master, especially those who were forced to dispose of more than 2 enemy units.
