Hey, that does sound like a neat variant! I was just trying to figure strategies out... I imagine still having a central pawn wall would still be important.
We tried all kinds of things. Pawns on one left, power Pisces on the right. Surrounding the king with all the pawns. Some arrangements were evenly matches. Some got desemated real fast. Trying different things based on the last out come was half the fun.
Sorry, I'm not being a jerk or anything, I think it's fun actually - but the spelling is pieces... Pisces is an astrological sign.

I have never hears of Stratego. How doooo it work? I was good at battle ship and connect 4. Dose that count? Oh yea, I'm a monopoly master too...
That sounds like it would be fun and interesting. I like the idea.
Something an old friend and I use to do was place a piece of cardboard in the center of the board. Then we would arrange each of our pisces any way we wanted on our first 3 ranks, then remove the cardboard and play from there. It was fun trying to come up with the best arrangement without knowing what the other was up to.
Sometimes we would use 4 ranks on each side and other times turn the board diagonal.
