Taking with the pawn on move 13 seems like a mistake.
That is a very interesting observation. Exposing the king like that is exactly the type of move that beginners tend to make and are taught to stop doing.
And yet, in this position 13...gxf6 has virtually the same evaluation as capturing with the bishop. Two of the biggest dangers for Black are the threat of Ng5 or Ne5, but a pawn on f6 prevents both of those moves. Neither the Queen nor the rook can easily get over to the f file. So that might be one of those "don't try this at home" kind of moves

I had forgotten who Carlsen lost to in this game but there is a clever search facility on chess.com. Take the last position of the game and copy the FEN. Then do an advanced search and it finds the game for you straight away.
